Kumartuli Park sits a few lanes from the workshops that produce most of Kolkata's idols, and its puja is unusually confident about sculptural form.
The committee typically commissions a single artist to conceive both idol and pandal, so the two read as one work rather than a decorated shed with a figure inside it.
